About

THIS IS OUR STORY

30 years ago, Dr. Madhusudan Ray used tribal self-healing traditions of Ayurveda, Marma, Yoga and Breathing to make a full recovery from prostate cancer, spinal cancer, tuberculosis and an 8 year long paralysis. During his recovery, Madhu Sir was reminded that for thousands of years humans have learned to live in sync with nature by watching animals interact with the environment. Over time, we have strayed from living in sync with nature, resulting in increased physical, digestive, and mental pain or dis-ease. To reclaim his heath and aid his full recovery, he began studying nature and learned how to live in sync with earth and the world’s ever changing environment.

Not long after his recovery, Madhu Sir was sought out by Damian Hagglund to learn these techniques of self-healing. Damian became Madhu Sir's first western apprentice and studied for 9 years, learning this science in Madhu Sir's native languages, Oriya and Hindi. At Madhu Sir's request Damian traveled to the west to share these practices and continue his studies in the field. With the help of Katie Grossman and Joshua Langsam, Damian translated these ancient wisdoms into English. Under the guidance of Madhu Sir, Damian, Katie, and Josh created an archetype philosophy using 14 WiLD animals to represent the different metabolisms found in the natural world. Wildly You is Eastern wisdom delivered through Western technology and terminology that has allowed thousands of people to access tools to optimize digestion, develop and maintain a strong physical body, and gain mental clarity and focus, to live longer, happier lives.

Dr. Madhusudan Ray (Madhu Sir), was born in Puri, India. He was raised using natural medicine, Ayurveda and simple acupressure techniques. When he was a young boy he practiced competitive gymnastics with his teacher, Dibakar Mishra. As he continued to grow he began learning the science of Mallkhamb yoga (pole yoga) in Mumbai from his teacher, Uday DesPande.
At the age of 20, Madhu Sir experienced a fall during gymnastics training that left him with a lower spine injury causing him to become paralyzed. He remained paralyzed for 8 years. Over the course of these 8 years, Madhu Sir developed spinal cancer, tuberculosis and prostate cancer. He was despondent and couldn’t understand why he had to suffer this way.
He turned to his spiritual master who guided him throughout his life on topics of dharma (life’s duty), and other important matters. Jogender Pattnik gave Madhu Sir the spiritual guidance that was needed to inspire his self-healing.
After a vivid dream that Madhu Sir had experienced, where Lord Jagannath opened his awareness that with proper discipline, the ancient sciences of yoga & Ayurveda that Madhu Sir grew up with, could change his state of health. A great master, Dr. Joysuall from Bihar refined Madhu Sir’s education of Marmachikitsa and Acupressure, and with all of the other tools he implemented, he made a full recovery.
After his recovery, Maheshwara Mohanty, the Minister of Education, appointed Madhu Sir to teach yoga at 16 local public schools where he went on to teach 10,000 students over the course of 12 years. Simultaneously, Madhu Sir became a master of Mallkhamb yoga and brought home many gold and silver medals to his home state of Orissa, India. Using the Rishi’s modalities of marma, ayurveda, yoga, diet, lifestyle and meditation, he has inspired thousands of people worldwide to cure themselves of all different ailments and dis-ease.

Joshua’s personal orientation towards integrative medicine is rooted in his personal therapeutic journey to overcome Crohn’s disease. He remembers going to many doctors appointments, having numerous medical procedures, taking assorted pharmaceuticals, and having bowel resection surgery instead of enjoying spring break of 1997. After being prescribed a more advanced course of medication, Joshua decided instead to engage other therapeutic approaches to health and healing. Years of therapeutic research and extensive biohacking resulted in consistent symptom relief, sustained disease remission and improved quality of life. Joshua has since been coaching others on issues related to digestive health including dietary optimization, nutritional supplementation, natural product therapeutics and strategies to regulate elimination. While travelling in India, Joshua met Dr. Madhusudan Ray who introduced him to Ayurveda, yoga and other traditional lifestyle sciences. Joshua continues to study many integrative healing modalities to improve his ability to inform and inspire others to achieve personal health and wellbeing. Joshua has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Haverford College and a master’s degree in public health from University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
